Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park
NZ's premier motorsport and driver training facility
Welcome to our new website!
New Website – Great Ideas!
We’ve upgraded and added a whole lot more features to help with a growing number of interests in the world of motoring activity. It’s more interactive and will allow you to book track days whether you ride or drive.
Our Track Day membership is open to anyone who can ride a motorcycle or drive a car. You don’t even need a road licence although you will need to demonstrate proficiency. Just head on over to the Drive Day or Ride Day tab and complete the details for membership. The one time joining fee is only $25.00 and this will enable you to receive info and offers of upcoming events and motorsport activities. As well as Drive Days for cars we are able to specifically cater for our motorcycling friends with Ride Days, special LAMS (learner approved motorcycles) introductory days which will include tips and tuition from some of the champions and legends of the motorcycling world.
And of course, we are looking forward to the great Suzuki Series coming up at Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park on the 7th-9th December. This year will be even better than last year when our own Scotty Moir took the title with a dominant performance throughout the series and had a great win at the last round in Whanganui. This year’s Superbike champion Sloan (Chopper) Frost is of course a Taupo favourite and friend of the track. Sloan rode brilliantly well throughout the series, stayed out of trouble and finished off in style – although he was pushed hard by a pack of hungry youngsters and old hands including Damon Rees, Daniel Mettam, Alastair Hoogenboezem, Scott Moir and Jay Lawrence.
Super Bikes National series will again culminate at Taupo in March 2019. Of course, we can’t talk motorcycles without a mention of the induction of the great Honda rider Tony Rees to Motorsport NZ’s Hall of Fame. Tony has a town full of Taupo fans who will be clamouring at the chance to join him for a special tribute weekend of motorcycling fun late September including a gala dinner. Watch out for more details.
